Gordan & Lilliana, Prom Night, May 2008

WHAT I HAVE TO SAY: My art is reflection of my own journey in life. I was born in the former Yugoslavia(Sibenik, Croatia). In 1992, I escaped the war in my homeland (Sarajevo, Bosnia)and was granted political asylum in the United States for my family and me. En route to our exile in America, we stopped in Philadelphia, where we found our new place in the Sun. This city, where we made our new home and where my son's life has been saved so many times, has become a theme and inspiration for my paintings. My life, which has been full of surprises and is very difficult to describe in words, is visible in the colors I use for my art - brave, dynamic and unpredictable. Done in acrylic, on canvas or black drawing paper, my paintings show a celebration of life and existence. I am spreading that celebration all over the world, with my art included in private collections in Europe, Australia, South America, Israel, Hong-Kong, China and throughout United States.

ABOUT MY ART : My paintings are all done in acrylic medium on canvas or black paper. Most colors I use are metalic(not visible on the web). All of paintings are originals, framed by my biggest supporter, my husband. Even though I have paintings with same theme, they are always different. Each one has something that another one does not have.Prints are made just for my portfolio.Almost all my paintings are Philadelphia scenes, but very different. Rest of my art is abstract, color playing images.

                                                      NEWS! NEWS!

                                                             December,2008

The Philadelphia Baseball World Champions for 2008 "PHILLIES" are invited professional artists to become involved in a new Paint the Phillie Phanatic Art Project, a city wide art program to excite Phillies fans, increase community pride and raise money for local charities. Winning artists will have the opportunity to paint a five-foot, fiberglass replica of the Philadelphia Phillies mascot, the Phillie Phanatic. The completed statues will be desplayed throughout the Philadelphia area in March & April of 2009.At the completion of the project, statues will be auctioned off with net proceeds being directed to Phillies Charities.

I was part of competition together with New York poet Ronnie Norpel. December, 23.2008 we received  letter from Tom Burgoyne  and The Phillies Art Committee:

Lilliana & Ronnie,

CONGRATULATIONS!  You have selected to be a participating artist in the Phillie Phanatic Public Art Program! We love your concept of including all of the various Philadelphia icons on the Phanatic and think that will be a wonderful addition to all the other great interpretations of the Phanatic that will be presented.
